What is there to say about Defiance as an outsider? I'd heard of it at its onset in 2014, when it was a tie-in with a new television show, and I'd known friends who had tried it, but after the show was canned it kind of faded out of my memory. I'd entirely forgotten about the game's existence until news broke about it finally being closed down just last month.
It turns out that Defiance lasted this long because despite the rocky launch period and the absolute flustercluck that was Defiance 2050, and despite the many quirks and flaws inherent to such an ambitious MMO, it was actually fun. In the wake of this shutdown, I've seen lots of people talk about the fun memories they had of playing this game together, and all of the joy it brought to people. One person even went as far as to say that Defiance made Destiny look like a regular-ass co-op shooter with a social system tacked onto it.
It's clear that this game is one that did not deserve to be forgotten by the likes of me. And even more so clear that this game is one that does not deserve to be forgotten anytime soon at all. So, when someone approached me with some ripped game assets and a humble request I decided to go with it.
Adds the Mass Blaster, the ULTRA MEGA META MACHINE(tm) from Defiance, to the game as an add-on submachine gun. It fires fast, shoots three projectiles in one shot, and overall melts people faster than you can blink as long as you can maintain ammo supplies for it. Oh, and it does a bunch of cool stuff with elemental nanos too. Ever wanted to tase a cop at 30 meters?
