Over the course of the past... month? It's grown into something far beyond that. What was once a simple mod that adds descriptions to all weapons, both custom and base-game, has since grown into a "complete" """"revamp"""" of inventory text.
Wow.
What this mod does is it makes every single weapon in the game, including custom weapons, become able to display a description in the buy menu, and then adds a unique description for almost every single one (most akimbo weapons are just given empty strings for descriptions because nobody cares). These range from descriptions to helpful tips to pertinent references to mere jokes, and serve to add a little more character to PAYDAY 2's vast and frankly cold blackmarket.
On top of this, you also have renaming options. These are disabled by default, but can be turned on in the mod options menu, and serve to rename weapons to match a desired theme you choose - either in-universe names for neglected base game weapons and most custom weapons, or realistic names for most base game weapons and a couple of custom weapons.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TELL ME IF I PORTRAYED ANY OF THESE GUNS WRONG AND IF YOU HAVE ANY CREATIVE SUGGESTIONS FOR IN-UNIVERSE NAMES TELL ME THIS TASK IS TOO DAUNTING FOR ONE PERSON TO DO ALONE.
Requires BeardLib.
Goes in mod_overrides.
Warnings:
Spoiler!(Probably?) incompatible with "Allow Weapon Descriptions" by LunaticLunarian - this mod contains its own version. If you have another weapon rename mod, such as YAWN, in-universe names for custom weapons, or realistic names for custom weapons, you should probably leave the renaming options off. If you have another mod that comes bundled with some weapon localization tweaks, such as IREnFIST, you should also probably leave the renaming options off.
Haven't used this in-game yet so maybe this advice is outdated and/or incomplete, but:
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TELL ME IF I PORTRAYED ANY OF THESE GUNS WRONG
Judge: Little wimpy low-pressure revolver-friendly .410 shells aren't going to hurt your wrist, certainly not compared to things like Desert Eagles that the Payday crew handle just fine, even dual-wielded. Using slugs to mimic .45 Colt ammunition might produce a little more recoil, but remember that this is originally a black-powder round and you certainly can't load anything near a hot .45 LC into a Judge without blowing something up.
CR 805 B: This gun is Czech (real name CZ 805 BREN A1), not Croatian, although I understand if you were just going for a Butcher connection.
MA-17: Civilian flamethrowers are not especially uncommon despite what vaporware meme-man might have you believe, they do have legitimate agricultural, land-management, and (ironically) firefighting uses. Plus, unlike any real flamethrower that uses a serious propellant and longer-burning fuel, Musky's Reddit-bait device is little more than an overpriced barbecue lighter.
Desertfox: In reference to a year-old comment here, it is neither a DSR-1 nor DSR-50, but rather a Desert Tech SRS-A1 Covert.
