RFC: mass post, content control improvement

The issue

One large issue that has been with us since almost the start is the fact that each mod that gets updated or uploaded is well, shown in the home page.
While that's fine in 95% of cases, in some cases this can cause serious issues such as:

  1. User mass updating their mods
  2. New games getting many mods uploaded to them.
  3. Many music/quick mods being uploaded.

With the 3.6.0 update soon coming, I thought it would make sense to collect some suggestions on this issue.

Initial Ideas

Any can be implemented, it doesn't have to be one.

  1. Allowing to turn off auto-bump for a single mod or globally.
While this will surely solve the issue, it does make moderation a little more complicated.

Generally with the site's growth, more and more mods will appear and it would be quite fair to allow for legit modders to mass update their mods without making everyone mad.
Perhaps having a "latest changed" view for mods that would show them regardless, but this will be a non-default view.

  2. Popular mods view
This can go 2 ways, either we'd default to popular mods or we'd have a split list.

Split list can be a bit odd with the filtering, but I'll play around with the idea. The idea currently is only having that on the home page, not sure if it's a good idea to have it on the game page.

  3. Ignore games feature
This will ignore games you aren't interested entirely. This feature is already coming in 3.6.0.

  4. Ignore categories feature
    For music mods haters.

What can you do currently

At the moment the site supports a bunch of features that allow you to manage the content you see.

  1. You can follow specific games and move to the "Followed" tab.
  2. You can ignore tags.
  3. You can ignore user mods without blocking them.
  4. Visit a specific game, especially if that's all you're interested in.

I think having "Popular Mods" on the homepage would be the way to go, both to avoid the spam and because of ad revenue (cause people are gonna be clicking popular mods).

+1 yeah, I think this makes sense as well! I worry about updating my stuff en masse tbh because I don't want to seriously overcrowd other people's work when i'm just making a update
