Weird matchmaking issue?

For some reason starting today I've had a weird problem where whenever I host a lobby, people will clearly be able to connect to my game, but won't spawn in and usually end up leaving the game. Does anyone know what commonly causes this? I've deleted something like 20+ mods now and it's still happening.

What does the leave message say? Does it say they're disconnecting? Or something else?
Yes, it says they disconnected
They're likely crashing then. Could be a variety of reasons for this. I know I had a similar issue some time ago. Only real way to know what's wrong is to get one of their crash logs.
...You wouldn't happen to be using Thirdperson mod, are you?
@insomnia Hmm, I see. No, I don't have any thirdperson mods
So much for that theory then. You should get someone who could join you and play with them for a bit until they crash. If they do, ask them to show you the crash log. Maybe it can point to the problem.
@insomnia Actually I may have misremembered. I think it will say they "left" specifically meaning they must be stuck in spectator for a short period before they decide to leave voluntarily. But I'm not sure what causes this
Base game issue then. Sometimes the game decides it doesn't feel like letting the player load in properly, so they have no choice but to leave the server someway or another.
@insomnia Strange... I never had that in the past
What, did it just start happening?
@insomnia Just today, yes
I'm not so sure then... I know this bug often happens to me because of the sheer number of mods I have are slowing down loading screen times, making me unable to load into a server proper. I have no idea how it can be fixed, because even without the mods, the bug will still happen sometimes.
@insomnia Hmm. Is it an abundance of mod_overrides by any chance?
Yeah, probably. I have a bit too many of those. About... 300.
@insomnia I see. I have 120 -something... I'll probably try to whittle it down some more if I can.
Texture mods and mods that add new content are pretty memory intensive on their own. I'd focus on those first and foremost.
@insomnia Gotcha. I'll look into those especially, then
My notifications are flooded with "You were mentioned in a comment posted in (thread) by aaalicethegoat". Should we just, add each other on steam instead?
@insomnia Sure, we can. Or Discord, if you prefer that
Either one is fine, what's your preference?
@insomnia I'm generally more active on Discord. Steam I mainly will just use for playing games, not so much its socialisation features
