Weapon commissioned by Asian Rifleman Nya.
The Gepard PDW is unlocked at level 6 and will appear to others as the Vityaz/AK Gen 21 Tactical.
True to the real world concept of the Gepard PDW, there are 3 different calibers available.
The default 9x18 Makarov is supposed to give similar performance to the Olympic K23 (Para) and Vityaz (Ak Gen 21) as a pocket assault rifle.
The designated "light" ammo, 9x17 ACP (.380 ACP), is supposed to give similar performance to the MPX (Signature) or 10mm Auto Magazine for the MP5 (Compact 5 with the Straight Mag). This ammo type downgrades your damage but increases your stability and ammo pickup rates.
9x30 GROM Armor Piercing is there to represent what was supposed to be the proprietary Gepard PDW shotgun. The intent with GROM is an "armor piercing SMG": it obviously has utility in punching through shields, but the Gepard still is a SMG and you can pull it out to spray down a charging dozer in a pinch. The tradeoff to running this ammo is much like the FiveseveN: your ammo pickup rates are reduced to 10% of their normal values.
Functionally speaking, the GROM ammo type is intended to be a Fiveseven almost cut in half or doubled (insert Payday 3 Ruger 10/22 jokes here): your damage is bumped up to ~85, total ammo pool is doubled compared to the FiveseveN at 90, as s the ammo pickup at a base of 0.4 minimum and 0.8 maximum. I don't think this is too overpowered in practice since the gun needs two headshots to kill a shield and you're barely getting 1 bullet back per pickup.
Known Issues:
- the bullet models do not change when using the ammo types; i'm too lazy to figure out where to get 9x30 GROM models and reexport every single mag with the different bullets
- The short magazine's follower doesnt rise up as bullets are depleted. Animation budget and all.
- The standard magazine and fast magazines' empty reload animations feels slow because masavik wanted to sync all of the animations to the same timer.
Probable Future Asked Questions:
Q: There's an AR stock adapter and the gun has ~70% of parts compatibility with the AK74s. Where are my AR/AK stocks?!?!?!
A: The commission intentionally stated to not include AR/AK stock compatibility.
Q: Why is there no 9x19 Parabellum, 9x21mm, or 7.62x39mm or multiple different types of 9x21mm??!?!?!??
A: yeah no lol im not going to try and make distinctions between 15 potential different calibers for silly clown people bank robbery game
To respect that the multicaliber functionality is part of the intent of the weapon, I settled for .380 ACP as your lighter damage high stability round and 9x30 GROM as your high damage Armor Piercing Round. I don't think I could come up with a distinct feel for 9x21mm, so that one was tossed. As for 7.62x39mm: I highly doubt you are fitting 7.62x39 in those tiny 9mm sized magazines.
Q: Can we have this as a primary?
A: The commission request explicitly wanted it as a secondary; however I did leave a fallback for people who wish to use the Gepard as a primary.
In the main.xml, search for selection index.
If you delete the "<!--" "-->" around the <use_data selection_index="2"/>
and </categories>
code, then you will activate the code that forces the Gepard as a primary weapon. The primary code will make the Gepard purchasable in the Special section of the Black market, make the Gepard still appear as the Vityaz in the primary weapon slot, and take all compatible SMG skills.
