Cowboy Cyborg Jesus' weapon of choice.
Special thanks to Offyerrocker's Code Wizardry for bringing the Auto-9 to life!
Thanks to PlayBONK for the amazing animation work!
The Auto-9 will appear to other players as the Bernetti Auto/Beretta 93R and is unlocked at level 25.
The Auto-9 is a burst fire pistol with the highlighting lock-on feature straight from the movie and the ability to ricochet bullets off walls when aiming down the sights. Aim well and you'll find your enemies coming back dead instead of alive.
Stat Notes:
Spoiler!
Your damage is set at a base of 85, which should bring you at just enough damage to one burst kill most swats if all 3 shots land on the head.
Your magazine size is 50 rounds, true to the in-universe stats of the movie. If you have Weaponlib, you even get 1 in the chamber for 51 rounds/17 full bursts.
Your ammo pickup rate is 1.5-4.5, which gets bumped up to 2-6 with the Walk In Closet Perk Deck Passive. This should be ammo efficient provided you consistently score one burst kills to the head.
Your ammo capacity is subpar at two spare mags, at 100 rounds total, to keep the Auto 9 roughly on par with the secondary carbines like the AKS-74U or CZ805.
Concealment for the Auto 9 is subpar for a pistol at 22. Although the Auto-9 is fairly concealable, the Auto-9 is not intended as a weapon of subtlety.
The unique gimmicks of the Auto 9 are its aiming down sight lock-on and ricochets. "Lock-on" technically is a misnomer in that the gun doesn't aim for you, but thanks to Offyerrocker code magic, you get the awesome Robocop-esque HUD that shows you where enemies are. Note that the lockon effect does not highlight special enemies for purposes of High Value Target, enemies are highlighted in green to simply replicate the effect from the movie.
The ricochets are there to replicate the baby hostage scene in Robocop 2, where Robocop ricochets a bullet to shoot around a hostage taking criminal. The ricochets are kind of a gimmick, but they fit the Western gun-slinging feel that Robocop brings to a sci-fi corporate future.
(If you only acknowledge the 1987 film as the only Robocop film, then consider the ricochets a not-so-accurate homage to the infamous Your, Move Creep scene, even if Robocop was shooting through the dress rather than going for a ricochet shot.)
Known Issues
If you have Weaponlib, you lose the ricochet property. It's kind of a gimmick anyways.
The hammer isn't actually animating, but PlayBONK noted it was mostly unnecessary when the slide is reciprocating on each shot.
Probable Future Asked Questions
Q: Could the modders responsible for this please make this as an animation set for the Bernetti Auto/M93R/(insert some other vanilla weapon here)? The animations are awesome but I dont like custom weapons!
A: That is up to PlayBONK.
Q: Could the mod team implement Offyerocker's targeting HUD script for something like the Black Ops 2 target finder or MMS scanner?
A: We likely could, but you'd run into the issue of the optic highlighting enemies on the screen, rather than what's in the optic. Having the the targeting boxes/outlines only show up through the scope lens would require a finished version of Cpone's hijacking of the VR scope code ... which, last I checked, wasn't finished.
Q: Ricochet property/ammo so I can shoot the cops in the junk?
A: do cops even have hitboxes down there?
A: Cops don't have hitboxes don't down there :( added ricochet rounds though so that's cool
Q: Full auto attachment?
A: The plan is to keep it burst fire only, since the burst fire nature not only makes it accurate to the movie, but makes the gun more unique as far as usage goes. However, if you check the main.xml, you can remove the forced burst fire from the receiver by deleting the value_node value="fire_mode_burst"
code. Be wary when modifying the xml, as one wrong step can break the xml.
If you play ResMod, I hear DMC has added the full auto attachment to the Auto-9.
Q: Dual wielded version?
A: No. I realize there's a scene in the sequel movies/cartoons where Robocop dual wields Auto-9s, but the iconic usage of the Auto-9 is using a single pistol.
Q: Rogue City's pre-order/prototype Auto-9?
A: It was initially planned, but then scrapped when I found that I could not edit the UVs without the UVs freezing Blender.
