Maybe if you were like me, when Holdout came out you were expecting something that was just sandbox wave defense like KF2 survival mode (where you can run anywhere, camp anywhere, etc). But Holdout doesn't really play like that at all.
So I edited some maps so that now the only objective is to survive and kill cops for 15 minutes. So basically like Safehouse Raid but without the money piles or the crashing from either Holdout or Safehouse (and also includes some optional buttons/challenges if 15 minutes is too long without getting bored).
Includes Boatload (Watchdogs Day 2), and maps that weren't originally holdout maps like the Penthouse in Mountain Master, and the Shadow Raid part in Meltdown.
If there's people that also actually enjoy something like this and it's not just my tastes being weird I'll take requests on what maps to add next lol.

maybe because i dont have to baby sit a hostage and worry about the cops getting more and more strong with each wave, surely that's fair and fun, right overkill?!
Yeah I know right? lol.
(Man, I wish Overkill would give us a real survival mode and not a "baby sit hostage mode" for Payday 3, lol.)

hell, they could even implement this with some of their new assets like the ordinance bag and the 50.cal turret
put MORE than 1 medic/ammo bag around the map, maybe also have Ilija for some small sniper support
maybe make the maps to have some different props like sand bags for cover or even some small npc AI to help
like some gansters or something that have some small resistence to dmg and can give you some support
there's so much they could do with this mode if they just tried
but isntead, we get another outfit pack, yay....
@OwO Oh yeah, so many of the assets and other stuff in this game that were basically useless gimmicks in practice would be super fun and actually good to use if they made a real holdout/survival mode, lol. Would be cool af to buy cover and allies and stuff.
I bet if they were smart about it I bet they could also add ziplines in a way (and the 15% dodge from it) to be actually useful too, or do stuff like let us block entrances like in Hoxton Revenge Day 2 with keycards again, or even let you buy cars so you can just drive around and run over cops lol. Could even try putting the buffs and stuff we get in events like the balloons and the presents into it too.
(On one hand I feel they could make a Holdout that's actually fun in PD3 if they just tried cause some of the recent DLC maps were actually fun, on the other hand I feel they won't do it cause they still left the balance in vanilla PD2 a mess and that makes me think they won't wanna try anything new lol)

@OwO I'd settle for just "don't balance the game in a way that railroads everyone into 5-6 meta weps and spawncamping cheese playstyles" for PD3 at this point. If they can actually manage just that then maybe they could make a good survival/holdout mode lol.
exacly, the state of balance in this game is honestly just boring at this point, is akimbo shotguns, judge as a secondary with HE rounds for shields and maybe some concussion grenades, and the comunity sometimes doesnt help on being toxic with anyone that isnt using ''the meta''
like, im not saying that these weapons and builds are bad, they are not, there's a reason why they are a literall meta
but my god considering the amount of weapons/reskins we got in the game, these weapons just get boring way too fast, as well as just making the game easier.
thankfully there is mods around that kinda of help on balancing the game, or at least..trying...
@OwO Oh yeah, absolutely. I feel the same way. The good ol' Akimbo grimms/goliahs + HE judge trivialized everything even on Vanilla DSOD (gas and graze snipers close seconds). Also doesn't help that the current spawn caps basically encourage those people to act toxic and demand everyone run those builds either (cause nothing else can compare in raw KPM lol). If it weren't for those mods that tried to fix the balance I'd probably have bowed out of this game 800 hours ago out of boredom (and would have never decided one day to try to play around with the beardlib editor lol).
Darn it Overkill I just wanna re-experience the magical days in 2014 where me and the boys would "holdout" in a room like we were the 101st in Bastogne. (Closest I ever got to recapturing that magic atm is modding the game to lower the max amount of regular swats but increasing the max number of specials and changing the spawngroups to stuff way more dangerous to solo spawncamp like 2 Bulldozers, 2 Medics, and a Cloaker. Maybe if the devs did something similar for PD3 that'd be a step forward.)

mods like, full speed swarm
restored spawn groups (tasers coming with blue swats, dozers coming in groups, medics coming with 2 heavy swats on his side, etc)
mayhem/death wish assault tweaks which makes the assaults have longer breaks, which makes sense for the police to take a while to plan a assault, instead of taking 30/40 or even 10 seconds on DS sometimes-
as well as making so that the map has a better amount of cops in the scene isntead of getting flooded with 100+ cops
@OwO Yup if Overkill makes PD3 similar to DW with Full Speed Swarm (and even better combine FSS with Better Cops Weapon Usage) + a good spawngroup mod like that mod, then we'd definitely have ended up in the good timeline lol.
If they don't do that I just hope PD3 won't use easyanticheat or something because if they use it that means people won't be able to rebalance the game (or make their own holdout edits) lol.
@Brofessor® indeed or be able to use specific add-on weapons/weapon mods too, since those sometimes trigger the cheater warning
which is kinda of dumb how this can count you as a cheater, but someone using too many skill points (more than 120 which is he limit) doest trigger it
@OwO Yea, might as well just let people make their own anti-cheats and just let hosts decide if they want to download them, lol.
Probably better at keeping up in any potential anti-cheat vs cheater arms race anyways lol. If Payday 2 had VAC or EAC we'd still have those too many skillpoints cheaters but then we wouldn't be allowed to have mods to stop them (maybe I'm just paranoid but if someone joins and has all skills I assume they are probably also running the mods that can grief me by tasing/instakilling me. Actual gameplay/rebalance mod players I basically always let stay lol).
@Brofessor® yea, most of the time, in like, 99% of the people i've seen using the mod that allows u to spend all this much skill points are mostly noobs that barely even have 100 hours in game and they seem to have some really bad pc and internet, since most of the ones i've seen where lagging all over the place and kinda of took 2 seconds to process that they have to shoot the cop that is right infront of them pumping bullets in their mouth while shouting '' CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHO THE FUCK WE'RE FIGHTING HERE?!''

but tbh, something else that gives modders on the modworkshop, or rather, the ones in payday workshop, is the modders themselves
instead of people trying to make some mods to make the game better or add some cool new stuff
people isntead make some meme stuff that just makes the game look like a joke
sure we get some people that actually invest some time and effort to make the game actually cool or funny, but most of the mods are either heist soundtracks from other games and/or anime
and some other really simple mods of weapon charms or something lol
look im not saying that everyone makes these types of mods, ocassionaly we get some really good and nice ones, and it takes time and effort to make actuall good mods, but people are most of the time just ignore having this effort and just make random stuff for themselves.

@OwO True, I know those kind of stuff are way easier to make so I know why there's a lot more of it, but I'm not very interested in all the random meme stuff either. I wish I spent my formative years learning computer science so I'd know how to actually do stuff with lua so I could be like "fine I'll do it myself" and make a bunch of good gameplay changing mods (but I didn't learn it lol). Good thing playing around with the editor doesn't need me to know any code at all. And thanks o7.

but soon i want to learn to make LAS mods, since those are the ones i like the most, and try to make some cool stuff, idk like a LAS of splinter cell double agent
or a dozer LAS with the actuall helmet in him insteasd of only having the medic/minigun/mexican dozer having it
or even just a helmet and visor because it looks a bit cooler and cleaner
i still find it funny that i tried making a rebalance mod for the north star, and it got suspended for being a low effort unbalanced mod, ''low effort'' sounded kinda of...ironic judging by the other mods we have here
@OwO For me best I can do is edit around the numbers in other people's lua mods, lol o7. Stuff from Splinter Cell would be cool, if I knew how to make LAS skins I'd probably try to turn the NCR Ranger Outfit into an LAS skin to go along with the That Gun mod on here. And yeah, pretty ironic for them to suspend it, given other mods and also how there's like loads of mods on here that just rebalance one gun and not all of them at once too. (Also I feel dumb now I never unlocked the North Star during Christmas just Copycat. Oh well.)

but dont worry about it, it's a pretty meh secondary sniper, normal low damage + high concealment
rlly the only ''good'' thing about it, is using it to cosplay a marshal with the LAS of him
@OwO Ah so just another Contractor/SVD clone, meh, not worth it, always did feel that archetype of sniper was jank af cause the ROF was so slow (they're better off rebalanced into DMRs that can penetrate shields but can't graze or something). Maybe they plan to sell it to me as DLC now since I didn't get it in the event lol.

only difference is that now is a secondary sniper rifle, but that's it, not to mention, the ammo count that gun has is the most dumb sh-t i've seen, you have a total of 20 bullets
10 in the mag
10 in the reserve, that's it, barely nothing
at least...the ammo pick up compensates? i guess that's a good thing...
also, im just gonna say it, for the love of good overkill make weapons that have good dmg ffs, we already have enough high concealment weapons, new ones are useless because people will just keep using the Meta ones and people wont change it, just..gives us a sniper rifle with the normal 500 dmg and some small magazine
it rlly is dumb when the add-on comunity is making better and more diverse mods than the developers themselfs.....
