I'd love a reverse version of this, honestly. How can I edit the code enough to do just that?

This is a 2 years late answer, but for anyone wanting the same result, just interchange those two lines at line 24 and 39
"wep_base:gadget_off()"
"wep_base:gadget_on()"

I didn't test it myself but I assume it'd work, its just turning the function around by making it on when normally off and vice versa
