This mod is nearly perfect, and I can't imagine playing this game without it honestly. The blood mist is amazing, and a great addition to the mod, giving much more responsive feedback to bullet impacts. That being said, there are certain low-lighting maps like that brooklyn john wick map where the blood mist doesn't look red, and just looks like a dark cloud. I am not sure if there is any way to rectify this, but I would hope it would be looked into, as I pretty much just don't play those low lighting maps anymore because I can't see those great mist effects. It should be noted that on some low-lighting maps, like the classic diamond heist, the blood mist looks fine and has no discoloration. Also, the bullet decapitations mod has a feature that spawns a blood decal below the stump of the head once the ragdoll is on the ground, is there anyway to add a feature that has a blood decal spawn on the ground below the ragdoll? It is a little lackluster seeing only blood spawn if there is a surface behind a character, and seeing a clean surface if they die with nothing behind them. Regardless, this mod is amazing, extremely well put together, and very impressive.

Glad you enjoy it! I'm glad the mod is still used after so many years!

As for particle lighting, I'm not sure I'd be able to do anything about it and it's probably an issue with specific maps. I'm just guessing here cause I've not played this much recently.

If you feel like experimenting though:

in "The Hollywood Shootout Mod\effects\payday2\particles\impacts\blood\blood_impact_a.effect"

find the 2 <atom> tags named "Dust Puff" and "Dust Puff 2". They both have a <billboard> element, and they both have the same intensity="identity". Maybe a different intensity value would fix the issue you're talking about? I don't remember all the different intensity values you can give it but the other effect files will have a good variety of values to experiment with. If you find something that works well in all lighting conditions lemme know, and I can update it.

If I play again before you do, and find a minute to fiddle with it I'll see if I can resolve it too.

Hey so I fixed this as much as I could, but some maps do just have shitty lighting setups on them and makes a lot of effects look bad.

@autogibbon Holy crap, didn't expect to see an update man. I see what you mean about some maps just having worse lighting, and I appreciate you tweaking this regardless. I have been messing around with this mod myself, mostly changing how long some of the effects last and their respective sizes, but thank you for mentioning the billboard element and identity, its always nice to find out how to tweak stuff. Thanks a shit ton for the update and responding, gotta be the goat of the payday 2 modding scene. If you don't get payday 3 I ain't buying it
