More than 1100 lines replaced!

Hey all!

These last days, I've been having a thought on my head:

"Hey, Duke Nukem is ******* awesome, and he has a ******* awesome voice too! How cool would it be to hear him say some one liner everytime I killed a special?"

So I did it. Well, not only for special kill lines, of course.

This mod replaces Rusts lines with those of Duke Nukem, taken from Duke Nukem Forever, Duke Nukem: Manhatten Project, and Duke Nukem 3D: Anniversary Edition World Tour.

Install in mod_overrides, Linux users don't need to do anything special anymore, as Overkill finally added Mod_overrides between June -August to the Linux port, but for some reason didn't tell anyone. I'm not mad, just slightly confused...



Neat list of character callouts and what they mean:
(the table is incomplete, and there also exists "generic lines" for all callouts except Sangrez)

Added 49 lines (Most of the interrogation lines done. Also, I think I'm finished with the domination lines, probably 1 or 2 left).

58 lines added. I haven't touched the mod for 2 months after I was half done with this one, so I don't remember most of what I replaced.

Replaced most of the character callouts, thanks to Dribbleondo-Van-Pelt!

EVERY. SINGLE. UNIQUE. VOICE LINE. (Or rather, the ones we know the names of). For good measure, [b]Dribbleondo-Van-Pelt also added Safehouse dialogue, so now you can talk to Duke in the Safehouse![/b]

[b](1.113): Replaced original lines of Rust that somehow got into the mod's folder.[/b]
[b](1.114 aka 3 updates in a day): Added 2 more safe house lines.[/b]

[b][b]The Robber Folder Exploration (1.2)[/b][/b]
[b][b]More lines added in robbers_mission_gen (specifically drills finishing, one half of the conversation from First World Bank and Duke finishing stuff).[/b][/b]

[b][b][b]The Duke Nukem Robbers 100! (1.3)[/b][/b][/b]
~100 more lines added to robbers_mission_gen. Too many to give specifics, as they cover a lot of bases. everything from crowbars, to finding objective-related items. Though Rust's second half of his conversation in First World Bank has now been replaced.

1.31 - The "It's ******* Nothing" update
Added descriptions on this home page that describe which character callouts belong to which character. No changes to the download have been planned...yet.

1.40 - The Bain Callout Starter Update.
Found a few of the lines relating to flashbangs and when cuffed. There might be a few missing. Also the start of Duke being acknowledged by Bain via lines for Duke getting out of custody. I'm not entirely unconvinced that August was "renamed" Duke specifically so I could use them in this mod. Also Jacket is no longer called "Crazy monkey", as the voice clip was really badly done. He's now known as "The Other White Meat".

1.5 - The Locke Narration Update
Replaced Locke calling out when "Rust is down or [out/ in] custody". This was significantly easier than Bains lines to do due to Locke having a dedicated folder 
named locke_system for me to use. Still working on Bains voice lines for the same situations.

Missing Lines / Things to do:
  • Rusts Heat Speech  Added!
  • Safehouse VO. There are approx. 4 lines missing that have yet to be done. - Added!
  • Replace Locke callouts relating to downs and custody statuses for Rust - Done!
  • Sniper/ Taser lines for when Rust is sotto (i.e, not in an assault wave)  - Impossible due to modding tools not capable of converting the weird file format used for those specific lines.
  • "I got it" Bag lines for when bots receive a bag.
  • Probably a few an ass-ton of lines relating to specific heists in robbers_mission_gen that have slipped through the cracks.
  • Callouts for when other characters call for Duke. Because we have a Duke in-game now. Oh Boy.
  • Bain telling the crew that Duke is in/ out of custody - In progress - 1/~7 replaced.
  • [b]Going to be testing some more appropriate Medic callouts in the near future, so keep your ears peeled for that.[/b]

So, I left PD2 and I won't be taking care of the mod myself anymore. From this moment onward, the mod will be in hands of Dribbleondo-Van-Pelt

He has already contributed a lot to the mod, so he will do a good job with it. Thanks for using the mod!

Short answer: No. Only the game knows which line to choose, and most of them have different variations of rust saying the same thing.

Will you eventually make a list of the soundbank files for Rust and what each of those relate to (You don't need to have the exact line, but just what events they're linked to, so for killing tasers or marking them.) so that people can make their own mods that change Rust's lines? 

Verifying the soundbanks manually is really hard and I bet a lot of people have trouble with it, incomplete list or not, it'd be nice, and people would be able to make voiceline mods with a lot of ease after that.

I'm pretty sure that would be impossible. Not only I wouldn't have much lines to work with, most of them wouldn't fit in the game.

You should also make a Tony montana from the movie voice over for the tony we have in the game

Simply extract the zip in PAYDAY 2/assets/mod_overrides

Also, keep in mind that voice mods only work if the game's language is English.

DNF is the game with most number of duke lines, though. And only a few of them are cringy jokes, you really won't notice that in here.

Unfortunately DNF is not really good if you put DNF line within that game context. it's really cringy with dated joke and what not.

I really payed no mind to this thing, but I completely forgot how high quality all the duke recordings were in forever. Hell, Duke's a more engaging character than rust himself. So I may keep this forever. Keep up the good werk, frend.

I've managed to replace what I believe to be all the name callouts with Nukems Voice. I can send you a ZIP of the lines (unsorted from the incompleted Rust lines because effort) if you would like?

Oh, don't worry, I already got those. In fact, I already put a lot of Manhattan Project lines in the mod. Also, I use the Duke 3D lines from the Anniversary Edition.

Can I provide you some Duke Nukem sounds from older games like 3D and Manhattan Project? (Despite they're in low-quality, but more fitting for those who prefer older ones)
I extracted them from a DooM II skin and converted them from ".ogg" to ".wav".
