"You're not tacticool enough if you don't color-code your shell by payload"

Changes the shell color on shell rack attachment, based on what the shell ammunition is being used.
This mod affects all shotgun that can install shell rack attachment on Upper Receiver.
Blue = Armor Piercing slug
Oranges = Dragons Breath shell
Grey Transparent (but kidna fail) = Flechette shell
Green = High Explosive shell

The Buckshot and 000 Buck will be whatever your default shell looks like, if you are using my Green Remington Shells pack for instance, they will remain as such.
All of the new shells I did are based on real life shells. The AP is a RIO Armored Slug, the HE round is a US FRAG-12, and the Flachettes are by AmmoZone. I based the dragons breath on shells from FireQuest, but were originally redder, and brassless. I did make that version as well. I will add that one as an extra file when I am fully satisfied with the color. ~ Kitsune Jimmy

To get shell rack for other shell-loading shotgun type, use this mod

Next update, I might try to make the ejected shell color changes too
I have no idea how to change the shell used on reload anim, if someone know how to do that (or know what the texture/model used for that) give me a holler.
Thanks to Iron Predator for helping me figuring out the lua to change the texture based on ammunition
Thanks to Kitsune Jimmy for the new texture for each shell type.

PLS do a fresh reinstall (remove the old one) if you updating to v2

As Always,

Requires BeardLib

> Put in "mod_override" folder

Update Changelog:
v1.1 - edited the texture color for Dragons Breath, now its bright yellow/oranges
v2 - Reworked the entire mod/asset strucutre. Changes the shell type texture theme, thanks to Kitsune Jimmy

@Leon
Haven't found a way to do that yet
I'm also planning to change the shell texture on reload, but reckon its much harder and painful to do..

Does the shells that eject use the same color as those?

@Alcat101

Yep, i use it with Shell Rack too. And yes, if i use that mod and Shell Rack mod separately then my game won't crash.

@Fantoca

Some of the user also reported crash using this mod. Do you use it with Shell Rack mod too?
If you're willing to help, please give a list of all your mod, BLT and mod_override

Application has crashed: C++ exception
[string "core/lib/utils/coretable.lua"]:32: bad argument #1 to 'pairs' (table expected, got nil)

Aw man, you've really done a nice job with this update! Everything looks really cool, yet realistic.

01-23-2017, 03:33 PM
can u remove the writing on the shells? pls?

@Alcat101

Alright, sweet. Even without that, this mod has gotta be in my top ten. I love being able to just look at a gun and know the ammo, even while playing. Thanks for considering my suggestion.

@Nerd Venom

its possible, but it'll be a PITA to do it. I'll put it on to-do list

01-23-2017, 09:16 AM
I noticed the AA-12 (Steakout) has an empty shell rack. Is it possible to fill that so it shows the ammo types like this mod does?

01-07-2017, 02:38 PM
I'll see what I can do to make it not so bright..
But I'll keep each shell type to different color spectrum, so it's very clear whats this and that..

I like this concept! But I agree with Schepeppa. The colours are a little too bright and in your face. I'd probably recommend them along these lines to make them a little more realistic:
HE Round = Dull Yellow
Dragon's Breath = Orangy-Red
Slugs = Green
Flechette would probably be fine just the same however if you wanted to change it I'd say a baby blue colour.

I can do it if ya want :D

01-06-2017, 04:41 PM
Fair enough, I'd try using less bombastic colours and more tacticool colours. Also, try adding little icons and text like Leon said. It'd look good aesthetically more than anything else, doesn't much matter if you can read it or not xD

@scheppa
Yea, I just know that too when researching what color do a shotgun shell have, and it denotes many thing.. not just its payload.
Then I think, screw it, I'll just paint the shell to a color I think match the payload lol

@Leon
There's too little space to put the icon of the ammo type.. So I figured color will do just fine :)

Some of the colours don't work imo because they're used to differentiate the gauge of the shells. Like yellow is for standard 20 gauge shells. Purple is 16 gauge and green for 28 gauge. However, there are specific colours for the different shell types like you're doing here. A dark green means military grade, normal green might indicate that the shell is a 1 ounce slug made by Remington (they like to be different :P) and red is just an all around standard. Or you could just disregard everything I just said and say you painted the hulls yourself xD whatever you wanna do, it's your mod!

The shell used in the reload animation is usually built into the body model of the shotgun.
You'd have to make a ton of copies of the models, unfortunately.

THIS IS SO COOL

edit, You should put the icons on the shells themselves.
