LUNALPHA HUD: PURE TELEMETRY
Precision Interface for Peak Performance.
LunAlpha HUD is a disciplined redesign of Payday 2's camera behavior, interface layout, and player feedback systems. Inspired by competitive gaming standards, it discards immersive fluff in favor of clarity, efficiency, and consistency.
DISCLAIMER: EXCLUSIONARY DESIGN
This modification is built on a singular, uncompromising vision. It was not designed by a committee attempting to accommodate all playstyles. LunAlpha contains no flashing health circles, no colorful progress bars, and no visual hand-holding. If you play on lower difficulties and prefer a visually rich, arcade-style UI, this mod will likely frustrate you. LunAlpha is an instrument cluster engineered specifically for Death Sentence/One Down (DSOD) veterans who rely on absolute numerical values, muscle memory, and instantaneous raw data under extreme physiological stress.
COGNITIVE LOAD AND ABSOLUTE TELEMETRY
A common flaw in traditional UI design is the over-reliance on analog data representation, such as concentric circles or fading color gradients. Under extreme stress, evaluating ambiguous visual data—asking yourself if a meter is at 30% or 40%, or if a color has shifted from orange to red—introduces unnecessary cognitive load and delays decision-making. LunAlpha strips away the engine's default iconography and replaces it with static, absolute telemetry. In a DSOD environment, you do not need an approximation; you need to know instantly if your armor is exactly 225 to survive a Heavy SWAT impact.
NEURODIVERGENT DESIGN INFLUENCE
The architectural and visual choices in LunAlpha are heavily informed by the developer's own neurodivergent (ADHD) profile. For certain cognitive profiles, the visual noise of shifting colors, pulsing icons, and overlapping analog indicators is actively detrimental to performance. By aggressively stripping away non-essential visual stimuli, standardizing font weights, and locking data to predictable coordinates, the HUD minimizes sensory overload. This design prevents attention-hijacking by the UI and allows a state of hyper-focus to be maintained entirely on the core combat loop.
FOVEAL FOCUS AND PERIPHERAL STROBES
Human neurobiology dictates that foveal vision (the center of the eye) is required for sharp detail, while peripheral vision is highly sensitive to motion and light contrast, but poor at interpreting color and detail. LunAlpha leverages this biological reality. Softly fading color transitions are discarded. Instead, critical events and damage warnings operate as binary "strobes". These stark, high-contrast flashes immediately trigger your peripheral vision, alerting you to state changes without forcing you to pull your foveal focus away from your crosshair.
SPATIAL FORM RECOGNITION
While symbols are generally faster to read than text in casual software, elite gameplay relies on conditioned reflexes and Gestalt pattern recognition. LunAlpha locks critical data to strict grid coordinates. Over time, the player's brain learns the physical silhouette of the numerical strings rather than reading the individual numbers. A three-digit armor value shrinking to a two-digit footprint is a pre-attentive geometric shift. This physical contraction of the data block acts as an immediate trigger for a cognitive micro-check, circumventing the need for constant, active reading.
ENGINE ARCHITECTURE AND OPTIMIZATION
Extensive visual interfaces often introduce severe CPU overhead by repeatedly polling UI elements frame-by-frame inside the game's update loop. LunAlpha avoids this anti-pattern through an event-driven architecture. Elements are only redrawn when a mathematical state change occurs. This approach eliminates wasted CPU cycles, ensuring that your 144Hz+ frametimes remain stable during high-density combat scenarios.
SYSTEM INDEX AND CORE FEATURES:
- Absolute Telemetry: Precise numerical data replaces analog visual approximations.
- Peripheral Strobe Mechanics: Binary, high-contrast warnings replace ambiguous color scaling.
- Spatial Grid Locking: Fixed data coordinates facilitate rapid geometric form recognition.
- Event-Driven Execution: Zero frame-by-frame polling preserves hardware frametimes.
- Integrated Security: Includes a built-in lobby scanner to proactively identify and filter blacklisted users.
INSTALLATION & ENVIRONMENT INTEGRATION
Requires SuperBLT and BeardLib. Extract the mod folder into your PAYDAY 2 directory. LunAlpha assumes a disciplined modding environment. Attempting to run this alongside multiple other HUD overhauls will result in scaling conflicts. If you experience canvas errors, use the included Environment Manager to quarantine conflicting files and restore baseline stability.
##NOT FOR CASUAL PLAYERS
LunAlpha HUD is a precision instrument cluster engineered strictly for Death Sentence (DSOD) veterans. Heavily informed by neurodivergent (ADHD) design principles, it aggressively strips away immersive fluff, analog color gradients, and flashing concentric circles to eliminate sensory overload.
By replacing the engine's default visual noise with static, absolute telemetry and spatial grid-locking, it prevents UI attention-hijacking and allows you to maintain hyper-focus on the core combat loop. Built on an event-driven, zero-polling architecture to preserve your 144Hz+ frametimes, it also includes a built-in lobby scanner to proactively filter out cheaters before the heist begins. Pure data. Absolute precision. Zero clutter.
