Payday 2 Freezing Crash "Fix" 2.0

Let's be real: we're playing a game built on a foundation of spaghetti code and 20-year-old software architecture. The Diesel Engine doesn't just crash; it holds your PC hostage. It locks your mouse, loops the audio until your ears bleed, and forces you to hard-reboot like it's 2006.

Starbreeze might be trying to sell us "Premium" experiences with DLC Subscriptions, but they're still fueling the game with kerosene and prayers. This isn't a "fix" for the engine, nothing can fix this engine. This is a lifeboat.

The Update

This is a continuation of my old mod: “Payday 2 Freezing Crash ‘Fix’ [V1]”.
I promised V2 and V3. Turns out… this is both at once.

I present to you:

What the hell is this bug?

You’re playing Payday 2 and suddenly:

The process is still alive. The game never crashes properly. Windows is held hostage.
Before this tool, the only fix was a hard reboot.

Why this approach works

V1 used a .bat script to kill the process. That worked, unless your keyboard froze too.
But there is one thing that almost never freezes.

Your microphone.

That’s right. TPOSC listens for rage and kills Payday 2 by voice command.

Rage phrases (examples)

If TPOSC hears any of these, Payday 2 is done:

You can still use Ctrl + Shift + K as an emergency kill for when the keyboard actually works.

“Still listening for rage…”

If you close the UI window, TPOSC keeps running in the background and shows a popup letting you know it’s still listening for rage. It does not abandon you. It watches. Patiently. (if you want to kill it just use task manager and search TPOSC)

Post-kill popups (fake therapy included)

When TPOSC kills the game, it shows sympathetic popups like:

“Yeah, Diesel Engine strikes again. Not your fault.”
“At least you didn’t have to hard reboot this time.”
“Your patience is legendary for putting up with this.”

There is also VR support! If you close your process while running on VR, there is special quotes for that.

Other Methods To Close The Game (Thanks to the Community!)

TPOSC voice detection is the fastest (1 sec), but here are alternatives if your keyboard still works:

Task Manager "Always on Top": Options menu → Always on top (Thanks, Willcario)
Virtual Desktop: Win+Tab → New Desktop → Task Manager → Arrow keys → Delete (Thanks, Ms. Nazuna)
V1 .bat Script: Windows key + search for script name (if you have it dowloaded)
Emergency Hotkey: Ctrl+Shift+K (built into TPOSC)

Different crashes, different tools. Pick what works for you!

SAFETY & SECURITY (NOT A VIRUS)

This is NOT a virus. This is NOT malware. I know an .exe that listens to your mic sounds sketchy, but that’s why this is OPEN SOURCE.

The full C# source code is right here. If you’re paranoid, go read the code yourself. You’ll see it’s just a simple audio listener and a taskkill command. Nothing else. No telemetry, no theft, just a way to kill a broken game.

VERY IMPORTANT WARNING

TPOSC cannot tell the difference between a real crash and emotional damage.
PLEASE be careful which instance you complain in.

A NOTE ON THE 285/185 MB DOWNLOAD

Yes, the file is big. No, it’s not bloat. Whether you download the software or the source code, it’s going to be around 285 MB.

Why? Because TPOSC doesn't phone home to a server. It uses a local Vosk Machine Learning model and full acoustic libraries to process your voice instantly on your own hardware. I’ve included everything you need—engines, tools, and parts—in one folder so it works offline with zero setup.

Premium fuel is expensive, and in this case, the cost is the storage space. You're trading a few hundred megabytes for a tool that actually listens and works. If you’re paranoid about the size, remember: it’s open source. The code is right there for you to read.

Just extract the whole folder, don’t move the .exe away from its files, and you're ready to go.
