At some point, the fires made by the gas cans in Mallcrasher were broken so that when you placed a gas can, instead of the sound getting quieter when you walk away from it, the burning audio would be constantly playing in your ears.

I have fixed this by simply flipping the "play this sound directly into the player's ears" switch on the sounds from "on" to "off". When, how, or why they were flipped to "on" in the first place, I do not know.

Do note that this requires the host to have the mod for this fix to take effect it now works as a client, huzzah
