This mod allows you to set a keybind to do a slow walk/shift walk/whatever walk akin to Counter Strike or other games.
You can set the keybind in Options > Mod Keybinds > Under "Slow Walk".
There is no default keybind.
When you press the walk button, you'll know when you're doing such if you start moving slowly and the headbob amount is reduced. You can still sprint while walk is toggled, though it doesn't cancel the slowness after sprinting ends.
You can crouch and walk at the same time to go extra slow. Might be useful if you are trying to position yourself and need to be precise.
To be fair, this kind of mod doesn't serve much of a purpose in a game like this.
Notice
- There's a glitch where upon getting put into a public match via live drop-in, other players will also slow down when you toggle the walk button. They stop doing this whenever they change state, as in; switching from casing mode, entering bleedout/fatal states or until the match resets. Still working to fix this, but I don't know how.
- The set walk speed is not a hard value, it can and will be increased with speed bonuses from skills like Parkour, or perk decks like Yakuza.
- Not tested in multiplayer very much, but there should be no game breaking issues.
- Despite the code editing the headbobbing values, this mod is still compatible with any headbob reducers or disablers.
- I don't know how to make the button a hold, rather than a toggle.
- This mod doesn't change animations. The animations you see in the video are the just some of my own edits. In your game, they'll likely be different.
For modders
- Editing the headbob for casing mode doesn't work. Well, sorta... It doesn't work when the mission starts, but when you toggle on and off the slow walk, suddenly the headbob changes work.
- Despite "function PlayerStandard:_get_walk_headbob()" being disabled, it does work. Though the last time I edited a function like that, it broke other mods that edited the same thing.
Thanks

Offyerrocker for tweaking my initial code and getting the keybind and slowdown to work.

✨miss miki for showing me a better way to edit the headbob.
Trivia
Spoiler!

I used the walk button in games like Left 4 Dead 2 and Counter Strike a lot. I hardly used it practically. I used it only because it looked cool to me, especially in thirdperson where I could see the actual animations. I also have a very weird obsession with tweaking my games to make my character capable of the exact same things NPCs are capable of doing. I don't know why.

Some time ago when I played Payday 2, I noticed how NPCs like to do walking animations here and there, and I kinda liked that. Soon I realized players share the same animations as NPCs. Then I noticed when playing with someone with a controller, they could lightly tilt the joystick and their character did the walk animations. That eluded me for a long time. I got the idea to make a mod that slows you down when pressing a button. After asking a lot of people for help, most of which didn't, here we are now: a movement mechanic that's incredibly pointless in a horde shooter.

This mod was made sometime last year. Took me a while to get the courage to upload it though. If I kept anyone waiting, I'm sorry.

If you watch the thumbnail gif and blink at just the right time, it kinda looks like it loops endlessly.

That video was made with no editing experience. I'm pretty proud of it.
