- Programs - - -
-
The programs necessary are by user preference.
The ones i like to use are:
-
GIMP: GIMP its free to download on the official page. Its a graphics editor used for image manipulation and editing. (You will need the "DDS plugin" to load the files)
-
Photoshop: Is a very pricey and more professional raster graphics editor alternative, probably everyone knows what it is so yea.. (You will also need the "DDS plugin" to load the files)
-
Imagine: Imagine is a image and animation viewer that can be used to see the .texture and .dds files quickly without necessarily opening the image editor.
-
-
- Understanding the files - - -
-
First of all, the "Dakimakura" folder is the one that goes on mod_overrides.
The files that you need to edit are:
-
"gen_pku_lootbag_df.texture" located on (Dakimakura\units\payday2\pickups\gen_pku_lootbag)
-
"equipment_lootbag_df.texture" located on (Dakimakura\units\payday2\characters\shared_textures)
"Gen_pku_lootbag" is the bag when its on the floor, after and before picked up
"Equipment_lootbag" is the bag when carried on the back
The rest of the files are not relevant to the process of creating the dakimakura, so just leave them as-is

Lets start with the gen_pku_lootbag:
-
Load the file into your preferred software. In my case, I'll be using GIMP, but the steps should be similar enough to Photoshop, or etc. Alternatively, you can just drag and drop the image into the software. (Image 1)
-
Load the Bodypillow image or the image that you want to use and modify it to fit on the green rectangles. (Image 2)
-
When you are done, go to file and "export as..." (Image 3)
-
Rename it from "gen_pku_lootbag_df.texture" to "gen_pku_lootbag_df.dds" and click "Export" (Image 4)
-
Leave everything as it is and click "Export" (Image 5)
-
Now, on the file folder, there should be the new ".dds" file, delete the old ".texture" file and rename the ".dds" to ".texture" (Image 6)
6.2. To change a file extension on windows, go to any folder, open the upper tab, go to view tab and tick the checkmark "File name extensions" (Image 7)
-
For the other file just do exactly the same and it should work just fine.
And thats it.
Now drop the entire Dakimakura folder on "mod_overrides" and have fun!
(You may rename the folder to whatever you like, but keep everything inside the folder the same.)
