Description
A recreation of the HUD from Valve's Half-Life 2 (2004).
This HUD is extremely unfinished, but due to time constraints, development is greatly slowed, so I would prefer to let people try it out in the meantime. It's technically usable and should be stable.
(I promise this won't turn out like the other HUD of mine that hasn't left beta)
This is more of a style-oriented HUD, meaning it does not contain extra information like buff timers. I do not currently have plans to make this into an infohud.
Installation
Requires:
- SuperBLT
- BeardLib
Download this mod and unzip it into your mods folder.
The download file on this page will always have the latest stable release, and the mod's repository on GitHub will have the latest development version (which should also generally be stable, but generally speaking, the public release will be more refined).
Make sure there is not an extra folder "layer" when installing this mod.

Features:
- Half-Life 2 style. Pretend you're playing an entirely different video game! Wow!
- Clean UI, with all the extra information available to become visible or hidden at the press of a button. (This keybind can be found in the BLT Keybinds menu)
- Sound effects from the Half-Life series, such as the weapon switch noise
- Crosshair indicators can display: health, armor, either weapon's magazine ammo, either weapon's reserve ammo, perk deck ability status, or detection risk! (Indicator customization menu is not yet implemented, and is currently set to health on the left indicator and current weapon's magazine on the right indicator)
Also, the ammo counter displays different ammo type icons based on your current weapon type. Underbarrel ammo is also displayed next to your current ammo instead of replacing the display.
Planned
- Kill counter for each weapon in the Loadout element
- Teammate HUD
- Customization menu
- Assault Banner
- HEV suit voice implementation (Half-Life 1 assets are in place, triggers are not)
Known issues
- Certain types of popups, such as the loot secured notification, are disabled
- The Loadout menu does not update unless it is hidden and re-shown via the keybind
- Teammates' HUD elements are completely invisible, since I have not finished making them
- Some elements have inconsistent color/opacity (eg. Ammo, Aux Power, and Hostages elements are bright yellow, but Health and Suit elements are darker yellow)
- Firemode indicator isn't shown in the preview images on this mod page, but rest assured it's implemented in the current version
- Linux users may experience crashes. No known fix, but it may help to use the development dll version of SuperBLT.
- HUD is generally unfinished overall
F.A.Q.
Q: Will you make a standalone of the crosshair?
A: It already exists.
Q: Will you make drill timers/buff timers/ECM timers/[other infohud features] for this HUD?
A: Maybe, yes. But also, probably not.
Q: Does this work in VR?
A: I have no idea!
Q: When will this HUD be finished?
A: When it is complete.
