This is a mod for Enter The Gungeon that adds a new custom character for you to play with.
Kane Faustus is a marine from an alternate reality and he has come to conquer the Gungeon of this universe for his leader, Emperor Hegemus IV.

Falling Helmet Retexture Addon
To install, simply download the .zip
file, extract its contents into Enter the Gungeon\Resources\sprites
and click yes to override. Remember to make a backup of the original files so that you can easily revert it back to normal if you wish.
What is it and what does it do? Usually no matter what your character looks like, as long as they have the Marine as their base they will have a blue helmet drop off their head and onto the floor when they lose their armor. With this addon the helmet that falls of your character's head is now the same color as Chaos Marine's helmet.
Notice: It will also affect the color of the helmets that fall off all Marine-based characters's heads, whether you be Chaos Marine, the actual vanilla Marine or any other custom character with the Marine as their base. If you have this installed while you are playing as Chaos Marine, it will look perfect. But if you play as any other Marine-based custom character, or as the vanilla Marine himself, it will probably look weird and out-of-place.
Additional Notes
- What's the difference between the normal version and the alternative version of the mod? The only real difference is that the alternative version has a scar over his one eye, while the normal version does not. This is purely cosmetic, and has no impact on gameplay whatsovever. Note that the "normal" version has been removed in later versions of the mod and the "alternative" version renamed so there's only one file now.
- Chaos Marine is in many ways just a reskinned Marine with altered stats and a different starting loadout. This is partly because he is themed around being an alternate reality version of the Marine. It is also because I am still pretty crap at pixel art and as such I'm not yet able to make a decent-looking character from scratch.
Loadout
- Infinite Phoenix (from Vanilla)
- Hegemony Carbine (from Vanilla)
- Cog of Battle (from Vanilla)
- Rusted Armor (from Retrash's Items)
Stats
- Accuracy: 1.5
- Curse: 3
- Damage: 0.76
- DamageToBosses: 0.76
- Health: 1
- Armor: 1
- ReloadSpeed: 1.3
Pros
- Starts with strong guns.
- Starts with a Cog of Battle that, when used correctly, greatly increases damage and reload speed and reduces bullet spread.
- Starts with 1 armor.
- Starts with a Rusted Armor passive item which blocks 3 instances of damage. This damage is not registered at all, so it also helps you to get the no-damage bosskill reward.
Cons
- Starts with increased bullet spread, reduced damage and reduced reload speed.
- Starts with 20% less ammo capacity.
- Starts with only 1 heart container.
- Starts with 3 curse.
Tips and Tricks
- Your Ruby Carbine does not have infinite ammunition. It is exceptionally good at clearing rooms, but you should try to find a backup weapon to use against bosses.
- Your Rusted Armor prevents you from taking damage 3 times, then it is destroyed. While this is a powerful tool to use in Boss Battles, it is recommended that you try to hold onto it for as long as possible, as there are powerful synergies you could benefit from.
- Use your Cog of Battle at every opportunity you get as it can greatly increase your damage output and reload speed.
Lore
Notice: The lore of this custom character is currently in the process of being rewritten.
To his friends he is known as Kane Faustus, but his military codename is Chaos Marine, a name that his enemies and allies alike have come to fear and respect.
He is the personal bodyguard of, and childhood friend to, High Emperor Hegemus IV - the leader of the great Hegemonian Empire of his universe. He has led countless battles against his Emperor's enemies and has never lost a single battle, although he has obtained many injuries.
In the alternate reality that he calls home there was also a Gungeon. While all other opposition fell before the Empire, the Gungeon still stood strong... for a time. But even the Gungeon could not stand against the full might of the Royal Hegemonian Fleet forever. It, too, eventually fell. Now the Hegemonian Empire seeks to expand their reign beyond their galaxy, beyond their universe. They seek to invade and conquer all other alternate universes.
Not too long ago a brilliant (now deceased) scientist had developed a method to travel to alternate realities. It would open up a portal through which the Royal Fleet could emerge into another universe. Naturally, Kane was the first to volunteer.
So he packed his Ruby Carbine, Pheonix Blaster and a Wayfinder Beacon, and set off on this treacherous journey. Once he has reached the other side, he was to set up the Wayfinder Beacon, which would serve to guide the enormous capital ships of the Fleet through the portal, so that they could emerge at the same time and place as he on the other side. If no beacon were deployed the fleet could be scattered to different points in time or different realities, rendering the entire conquest a failure.
And what did he find when he went through? He found the Gungeon. Hoping to once more prove his absolute devotion to his Emperor and friend, he set up the beacon to guide the fleet through the portal and then immediately set off towards the Gungeon. He has vowed to not return home until this Gungeon is nothing more than a pile of hollow, scorched casings. He will conquer this Gungeon, or he will die trying.
