Eyes on the skies, Clowns.
Standalone version of Snipers from the CRACKDOWN overhaul.
Enemy Snipers in CRACKDOWN do not have laser sights. Rather they use tracer rounds, and (in an upcoming CD patch) red glares signifying their position when they target you. If you see a red light shining your way in the dark, duck!
Tracer rounds will give away their position, lasting for several seconds. Just like PD:TH.
The further away the Sniper, the larger the red glare will be.
Also applies to Akan Mercenary Snipers, as well as Zeal Marksmen, though the Marksmen won't produce tracer rounds.
Available in these options:
CRACKDOWN
Enemy Snipers have shining glares from their rifles when they target you. The red laser beams themselves are removed. Snipers will use tracer rounds revealing their position further.
/!!/ This option can make gameplay more difficult for you and Clients.
LASERS
Same as CRACKDOWN, but lasers will be kept on.
This option will not modify gameplay or you or Clients.
HARDCORE
No lasers, and no tracers. Only a red eye in the dark to reveal them.
/!!/ This option can make gameplay more difficult for you and Clients.
VANILLA / GLARE ONLY
This behaves as PAYDAY 2 vanilla, but with the added red glare when targeting you.
This option will not modify gameplay for you or Clients.
Optional Patch: White glare
Glares will be white instead of red.
Installation
Extract one of the four folders to mod_overrides.
Requires BLT / SuperBLT + Beardlib.
Important notes about teammates:
- This functions fully (with any of the 4 options) while you are playing as a Client with an unmodded Host. Joy for those who don't like to host, use whatever you prefer!
- While hosting with unmodded Clients, be wary that Clients can not see the tracer rounds, additionally if lasers are disabled they can't see those either.
- Unmodded Clients can not see the red glare coming off the rifles, as this is a model edit. Combined with the note above your Clients can be sufficiently disadvantaged. Consider using 'LASERS' or 'VANILLA' options if you Host often. If you prefer playing as Client, you can use any option with no ill effect to your team.
Likely not compatible with mods that alter beams, such as Lasers+. If you use Lasers+ and still want hidden beams, consider installing either 'LASERS' or 'VANILLA' options, and then changing the Sniper's beam through Lasers+.
Let me know if you run into any bugs.
