The AK-74 is the first 5.45 Kalashnikov-patterned weapon. It was designed in 1974 by Mikhail Kalashnikov, based off the AKM, and was first used that same year. With millions produced, it is the most abundant service weapon in Europe.
The AK-74 maintains the ammunition superiority of the AK-47, but trades the heavier 7.62x39 cartridge for the lighter, more accurate 5.45x39. As such, the AK-74 features lower damage, but higher accuracy and stability.
With an impressive mod pool, the AK-74 has 51 unique modifications. Combining it with supported vanilla attachments, custom attachments, and other AK Pack modules, there are hundreds of possible combinations.
