No lore this time, sorry.
The QBZ-97 is an export version of the Chinese QBZ-95 assault rifle. It is similar to QBZ-95 in all respects except that it is chambered for 5.56x45 mm ammunition instead of the original 5.8x42 mm cartridge and has a deep magazine well to accept STANAG magazines. QBZ-97B is a carbine version of the QBZ-97. It lacks a forend and and instead has a foregrip, with front sight built into the carrying handle.
Why did I decide to put it into SMG category? Because we already have another QBZ rifle in AR category by Silent Enforcer. Like the base game's Para is essentially a secondary version of the CAR-4, I tried to make my QBZ-97B a secondary version of the QBZ-95. Basically, it has exactly the same damage (1 point of damage doesn't matter) and unlocks 1 level later. What tells them apart is their accuracy and RoF stats. 97B trades some accuracy for slightly faster reload and bigger RoF. Thanks to its higher rate of fire, it also has slightly more recoil but, nevertheless, it is still perfectly controllable even in full-auto mode. As a small bonus, it also has built-in illuminated sights.
And... No, I won't do any Groceries-style descriptions anymore. I'll simply include list of all attachments available for this weapon. Here it goes.
- All standard barrel extensions.
- All standard sights
- All gadgets (minus magnifier and angled red-dots)
- Three (somewhat) unique attachments: Tactical, Vintage (they reuse names of their counterparts from base game but they actually use different models and textures) and Quick Pull Magazines.
- One truly unique attachment: QBZ-95B Conversion Kit: Somehow Gage's (or possibly Butcher's?) associates managed to get this carbine out of China. It is a contraband weapon and you'll probably get some additional years in jail for it. But... you are already one of the most wanted criminal in the USA anyway so it's up to you whether to use it or not.
- And probably more! (If I won't be a lazy ass)
BeardLib is required
Custom Attachment Points is required
Notes, issues:
- While you can install LAMs, I recommend you no to do so. It won't help you at all during hipfire because laser is misplaced to the right. It will probably look cool though.
- I didn't add magnifier and angled sights to gadget list. I was too lazy to configure them.
- Yes, it uses bullpup Saiga's animations but it's based on FAMAS. What does it mean? I had hard time while configuring sights. It also explains (I hope) why I decided not to bother with angled sights and magnifier. There is no place for maginifier with some sights too.
- Don't forget to install and remove QBZ-95B iron sights whenever you install QBZ-95B conversion kit.
