Crackdown is a free mod for Payday 2 that completely rebalances and reworks the game with new enemies, new statistics, and new behaviors for an all-new challenge.
Crackdown changes
Enemy health rebalanced!
No more bullet sponges!
New enemies!
Restoration Mod’s Grenadier has been added to Crackdown as a special enemy. Many abandoned enemy types (such as FBI HRTs) have been reintroduced, with specialized abilities!
New enemy weapons!
Proper damage and accuracy falloff, consistent autofire patterns, qualitative weapon changes, even new weapon assets!
New enemy spawngroups!
An entirely new set of enemy spawn groups that vary and grow more complex with difficulty increases. Crackdown also lowers the total number of enemies present at a time to more reasonable levels.
New enemy tactics!
Every enemy spawngroup uses a set of new behavioral tactics. The higher the difficulty, the smarter they are!
Special unit surprises!
Special enemies in the mod have new twists to their behavior that will shake up conventional player responses, offering new challenges and angles for gameplay. These changes vary and scale as you go down the difficulty curve; on the top difficulties, Cloakers no longer avoid charging the last standing player, Tasers shake characters harder, and Bulldozers have major explosive resistance.
Heists Heists Heists!
Maps from the modding community, plus edited Crackdown heists versions with special nasty twists, requiring players to adapt to new conditions on the fly and try new tactical approaches. We will continue to add new challenges and map edits depending on demand.

Thanks to large-scale modder collaboration, Crackdown has an extensive array of PAYDAY 2 modding innovations including many, many bugfixes and basic QoL enhancements.
Total Crackdown
This mod also includes the optional Total Crackdown expanded player side rebalance, with entirely restructured perks, skills, and player abilities, as well as fully rebalanced weapons intended to provide a more balanced, more engaging and more variable player side experience.
Some notes on Total Crackdown:
- This player rebalance can be enabled or disabled from the mod options menu. Note that you can only play with users who are also using or not using the rebalance!
- No more being locked to speedpull mags: most weapon mods in Total Crackdown are now cosmetic, so you can go for maximum tacticool gunfeel without being pressured to optimize your weapon build.
- Total Crackdown is still in development, with a handful of perks, skills and weapons still to be implemented. Read the design doc and give feedback on our Discord!
