Batch file determines what texture files are being used by other mods in your override, then pulls the rest of them from your extracted folder, and runs them through the Nvidia tool, to remove all the mipmaps from the textures, then it will rename all the files that have the mipmaps removed, to .texture.
If you install new mods with new texture files, you will either need to find the corresponding file and delete it, or run the entire mipmap batch file again.
NOTES:
- Ignores normal map files (_nm)
- Requires installing the Nvidia DDS texture tools, and moving a copy of the the nvdxt.exe inside of the mipmap_snatcher folder (Can be downloaded here: https://developer.nvidia.com/legacy-texture-tools)
- Requires extracting the game assets, with the .dds option for textures
- REMEMBERING TO ADD THE WHOLE FOLDER INTO THE MOD OVERRIDE FOLDER, OR RISK CAUSING CHAOS
- Running the files through this, takes awhile, but gets rid of those pesky mipmaps, which cause textures to be unrecognizable blobs.
OTHER NOTES:
Extracted file folder must be named "extract"
If you don't have an updated version of the extract folder, there is nothing for the file to copy
- If you update your extracted folder after removing mipmaps the first time, the file will see what you have in the remove mipmaps folder, and ignore them. i.e. will only copy the new files.
1.1 Changes
Added 2 other options
- "rip_all_textures" will copy all the textures and filepaths, into it's mod_override folder, without removing mipmaps, or changing the texture file's extentions. This allows you to copy the textures, and use another tool to remove the mipmaps. (A bulk file extention changing file is added, to change all the textures into .texture, after using a program to remove mipmaps)
- "Mind_your_Mods" is the same as "rip_all_textures," but it won't copy any textures used by other mods (Similar to how the Mipmap snatcher copies files)
These two new options allow you to use another program to remove mipmaps, like the ddsconverter found on https://vvvv.org/contribution/dds-converter
1.2
Added another variation, directed at any texture mods, in your mod override folder:
- "Invasion of Privacy (Everything)" will change all the .texture files that are inside your mod_override folder, to .dds, then run them through the Nvidia tool, and convert them back to .texture when it is done.
- "Invasion of Privacy (Single Mod Edition)" is designed to be placed inside a mod folder, and only removes the mipmaps from the textures in that mod. This one is recommended for anyone who has already had mipmaps removed from their textures, since the other version will waste time converting textures to dds, and attempting to remove mipmaps from them, despite that they have already been removed.
