I'm trying to make a van texture mod myself by editing an existing van mod, which DOES work in game.
So I take it, convert from .TEXTURE to .dds, edit what I want to edit, save as .dds and then rename back to .TEXTURE
However, after I make my edits, my mod doesn't seem to work in game. It detects in the mod list but it simply shows the game default van. Does anybody have an idea that could help me out?

First of all, this should be in the Help section.
Second of all, do you have the Nvidia Texture Tool Plugins for Photoshop?
Third of all, do you have other mods with the van installed?
Fourth of all, are you sure you are editing the normal van / Overkill van and not the opposite one you don't want?

Sorry, I jumped the gun a bit.

No, I was recommended Paint.net, so that's what I'm using. Should I switch to Photoshop?
-
No, I do not.

I am absolutely positive I am editing the correct van.

No problem, just fix next time you post a thread xD

Yes Photoshop is extremely better. CS2 is free from Adobe but you can get a free cracked CS6 from certain sites.

I'm guessing it is because after you edit it it is not saving correctly because of the .dds format and using paint.net. Also, check again to make sure the file path is right and you're not missing any folders. Based on what you have said, those are the only things I can think of that it could be.

I have a feeling the issue is somewhere in changing the file type. I'll download CS2 with the Nvidia texture tools and go from there.

Yeah, the texture tools are great and editing in Photoshop is much easier than most other programs. Cs2 was relatively simple for me personably to figure out, and there are numerous forums and stuff for help. I think you'll enjoy CS much better :D personally I've moved over to a cracked free CS6, just preference, but CS2 still has basically all the tools you'll need to make whatever texture mods you want
