❤ Lifeline - BPM ❤
Lifeline - BPM is an immersive heart rate and body-response HUD mod for Road to Vostok.
Your BPM is no longer just a number. It reacts to exertion, gunfire, injuries, body temperature, insulation, and survival pressure, then displays everything through an animated ECG-style heartbeat monitor.
Built to make your heartbeat matter.
✦ Features
- Dynamic BPM System — Heart rate rises and falls based on movement, combat, injury, cold, insulation, and stress
- Animated ECG Monitor HUD — Live waveform, scanline, BPM readout, stage colors, and monitor-style presentation
- Accurate Heartbeat Timing — Heartbeat audio, monitor pulse, and BPM timing are synced 1:1
- Combat Response — Getting hit, impacted, injured, or stressed can spike BPM sharply
- Cold-Low BPM System — Severe cold can drag BPM below baseline with icy-blue visuals and deeper heartbeat audio
- Insulation-Aware Logic — Clothing affects cold protection and exertion/heat pressure
- Optional Monitor Beep — Subtle medical-style beep per heartbeat, enabled by default
- Proper Save Behavior — New games reset correctly, saves restore correctly, and shelter/map transitions preserve BPM
- MCM Compatible — Includes settings for HUD, audio, tuning, debug tools, and environment behavior
⚡ How It Works
Lifeline tracks a hidden body-stress value and converts it into a visible BPM.
BPM reacts to:
- walking, running, sprinting, and stamina drain
- gunfire, damage, armor impacts, and injuries
- bleeding, fractures, burns, low health, and oxygen panic
- body temperature, frostbite, season/weather hints, and insulation
BPM uses smoothing and recovery delay, so it does not instantly snap up or down.
A sprint raises your heart rate gradually.
A gunshot can spike it hard.
Cold exposure can slowly pull it below normal.
🔥 Combat / Stress & ❄ Cold Behavior
At high BPM, Lifeline becomes more intense:
- heartbeat audio gets faster and more urgent
- ECG waveform peaks become taller and brighter
- HUD colors shift through yellow, orange, and red
- red pulse effects can appear during panic/high-stress states
At dangerously low cold-driven BPM:
- heartbeat audio becomes slower and deeper
- ECG waveform becomes smaller and dimmer
- HUD shifts toward icy blue
- blue cold pulse effects can appear
- severe cold/frostbite can push BPM far below baseline
Heavy insulation helps protect against cold BPM collapse, but can make exertion more punishing in warmer conditions.
🎛 MCM Support
Lifeline supports Mod Configuration Menu.
MCM options include:
- HUD / ECG monitor toggles
- monitor beep toggle and volume
- heartbeat audio and tone
- pulse FX
- BPM rise/recovery tuning
- cold minimum BPM
- insulation influence
- debug overlay and debug keys
Monitor beep is enabled by default.
Debug overlay is disabled by default.
📦 Installation
- Install Metro Mod Loader
- Download Lifeline-BPM_v1.0.0.vmz
- Place it in your Road to Vostok / mods folder
- Launch the game
- Confirm it appears as Lifeline - BPM
🔧 Dependencies
Required
- Metro Mod Loader
Optional
- Mod Configuration Menu — for changing Lifeline settings
- XP & Skills System — Lifeline can read some compatible skill/resistance values when present
⚠ Compatibility Notes
Lifeline is designed to be the main heartbeat/BPM system.
For best results:
- avoid running multiple mods that control heartbeat audio or heartbeat pulse visuals
- if using Breaking Point, disable/remove its old heartbeat and pulse logic so Lifeline handles it
- experimental incoming-fire polling is included, but disabled by default for release stability
Some users may see a LessLoot take_over_path warning in logs. This is unrelated to Lifeline.
🧠 Design Goal
Lifeline was made to make the player’s body feel more alive.
A calm shelter, a winter storm, a long sprint, and a close-range firefight should all feel different.
Your heart rate becomes part of the survival experience — visible, audible, and reactive.
🚧 Planned Future Updates
Future updates may expand Lifeline with:
- optional high-BPM weapon sway
- panic / aim instability
- better bullet flyby and incoming-fire detection
- deeper XP & Skills integration
- resilience / composure progression
- more compatibility with psychological and survival mods
- compact HUD themes and additional monitor styles
