Howdy y'all, cowboys! I'm finally ready to present the release version of my mod.
This is a global reconfiguration of defaultrendering.xml based on extensive research and testing. Reading through hundreds of websites and forum threads on Far Cry and Watch Dogs, analyzing all documentation I could find and .xml from Closed Beta & Release & TC2 helped me achieve a solid result that I can now share with all of you
From lush, dense forests to vivid, detailed deserts, tons of fine details in buildings and cities visible from a bird's-eye view, textures in their original maximum quality, improved shadows, and much more. All of this is a massive boost to immersion as you explore United States of America to the fullest
Install with PitCrew
Choose Geometry preset in game:
- Ultra (Stable)
- High (Screenshots only) - extreme LOD Scale exclusively for screenshots, since most just max out everything without looking into the details
- Medium (Vanilla+) - 0.9
Changelog
-
Increased LOD Scale and implemented three presets based on the in-game "Geometry" parameter:
- Ultra (Stable) - 0.78
- High (Screenshots only) - 0.001
- Medium (Vanilla+) - 0.9
-
Increased overall shader throughput by ~30 times
-
Migrated all PC presets to ShaderModel 5.0 (previously, this was only for PS4 due compatibility)
-
Reduced fog blending threshold with the environment
-
Increased precision and range of anti-portals (the occlusion culling system for hiding invisible objects)
-
Adapted texture parameters from TC2; now all textures are forced to load at max. quality (Mip0)
-
Increased rendering threshold for clusters and objects
-
Increased limits for world elements (decals, props, building elements, etc)
-
Increased shadow map & cubemap resolution to 2048
-
Increased reflection capture range (Frustum). Tall environmental objects now appear on cars without being cut off
-
Restored native resolution for water reflections by disabling the half-res parameter
-
Greatly increased draw distance and far clipping plane for minor terrain details
-
Cleaned config from all console & demo presets
-
Optimized the XML structure. Removed empty tags and replaced long tags with compact, self-closing ones. That makes config much more presentable and simple
-
Added comments to key variables explaining their logic
Thanks
