Breaking Point is a dynamic sleep deprivation and psychological deterioration overhaul for Road to Vostok.
The longer you stay awake, the worse your condition becomes. Fatigue builds naturally over time and escalates through worsening heartbeat pressure, eye strain, visual instability, delayed blinking, auditory hallucinations, and full late-stage mental collapse.
This mod is built to make sleep matter.

- Progressive Fatigue Stages — Tired → Fatigued → Exhausted → Delirious → Breaking Point
- Dynamic Awake-Time Tracking — Fatigue builds naturally during normal play and no longer relies on debug time skips
- Heartbeat System — Heartbeat grows louder, faster, and more oppressive as fatigue worsens
- Psychological Audio Hallucinations — Phantom footsteps, gunshots, and other instability emerge in later stages
- Visual Breakdown Effects — Eye strain, blink pressure, fatigue distortion, and pulsing stress effects intensify over time
- Mental State Scaling — Effects intensify further as your mental stat drops
- Proper Save Behavior — New games reset correctly, existing saves restore correctly, and sleep/melatonin reset fatigue as intended
- MCM Compatible — Includes Mod Configuration Menu support for debug-key toggles
⚡ How It Works
Breaking Point scales dynamically based on:
- time awake
- fatigue stage
- mental deterioration
Early fatigue is subtle. Later stages become far more oppressive, unstable, and immersive.
Ignore sleep long enough and your senses begin turning against you.

For now, please disable these mods while using Breaking Point:

- Despair - Giving Up
Compatibility support is planned soon, but until then these mods may overlap or conflict with Breaking Point’s psychological systems.
🎛 MCM Support
Breaking Point is compatible with Mod Configuration Menu.
Current MCM options include toggles for the internal debug keys:
- F7 — Restore mental to 100
- F8 — Reduce mental by 10
- F9 — Add awake hours
- F10 — Reset fatigue
All debug keys are disabled by default
More MCM options and gameplay settings are planned for future updates.
🧠 Design Goal
Breaking Point was made to turn sleep deprivation into a real survival mechanic instead of a background stat.
It is meant for players who want:
- harsher survival tension
- stronger immersion
- more psychological pressure
- real consequences for staying awake too long
Sleep is no longer optional flavor.
It becomes part of staying alive.
🤝 Inspiration / Credits
Breaking Point was strongly influenced by mod author Sid and uses similar auditory-hallucination concepts with his permission, especially:
- Paranoia - Auditory Hallucinations
- Despair - Giving Up
Those mods helped inspire the psychological direction and oppressive atmosphere behind this project.
📦 Installation
- Install Metro Mod Loader
- Download BreakingPoint_v1.0.2.vmz
- Place it in your Road to Vostok / mods folder
- Launch the game
- Confirm the mod appears in the mod loader as BreakingPoint_v1.0.2
