This mod removes the Grip Penalty from "Sport/Hardcore" driving assists that was introduced with WildRun
With the Release of Wildrun "Sport/Hardcore" driving assists recieved grip penalties which made them significantly slower than "All Driving Help" and in general miserable to drive. The change to "Sport/Hardcore" that wildrun introduced was giving those assists "griploss" and "dampingratioatslipmax" penalties.
"griploss" is how much grip is available when breaking traction. There's a "Lng" and "Lat" "griploss" variable. "Lnggriploss" is how much longitudinal grip (forward push) you have when traction is lost while "Latgriploss" is how much lateral (sideways) grip you have when traction is lost. "Sport/Hardcore" reduced "Lnggriploss" more than "Latgriploss" which is why it often felt as cars didn't have much forward push when sliding. This mod restores those values to match what they are for "All Driving Help" Lng/Lat -> 0.8/0.8
"dampingratioatslipmax" is how much the game "catches" the car when sliding. I did not change this value as restoring it to what "All Driving Help" would be, made there be (as far as I could tell) no difference between the assists. It is unknown what this value should be to match Pre Wildrun as there is no sign of Hardcore/Sport anywhere is the Pre Wildrun Archetypes file. If you would like to test "dampingratioatslipmax" at the "All Driving Help" value, feel free to open the xml and add 0000803F to "dampingratioatslipmax" for both instances of it.
This mod will not give proper results if used with a mod that adjusts "Lng/Lat griploss" values of the various Tires in the game. (as of 2/17/2026 no mod does this so should be ok)
Q: Does this mod make Hardcore the fastest way to play?
A: No, Hardcore was about 0~2 seconds off the pace depending on car. (maybe the dampingratio needs to be at the alldrivinghelp value?)
