• Hand-tweaked models and materials
The scene was extracted straight from GRID 2's files with 3DSimEd, and the models were carefully tweaked in Blender, including rebuilding all the smoothing groups and sharp edges. Lighting and materials were also all built from scratch inside Unreal, paired with a few custom texture maps.
• Screen with support for custom videos
It's not really possible to recreate the menus from GRID 2 in here, so I made the screen play an MP4 video file of your choice. By default, it plays a custom cut of one of the game's trailers that was already in the game files.
• Custom camera positioning
The default camera view was changed to better match what's seen in GRID 2 and also to fit the screen within the composition. I've also implemented a fade effect on the spot lights and the ceiling so that they don't get in the way of the camera when those objects are near the camera. Before implementing that, the ceiling would get in the way when applying decals to the top region, and the spot lights would be in front of the orbit camera when in view mode.
• Planar and screen space reflections
An optimization and fallback for those who can't or don't want to use Lumen. Tried to keep both scenarios looking similar and as faithful to how it is seen in GRID 2 as possible, but I still recommend using Lumen (Set global illumination to High or Ultra) for the best quality when taking screenshots.
Instructions on how to replace the video are in the read-me.
