if I put the paks in ~mods, then the game instantly crashes on startup, but if I put them in the paks folder, they don't work
You set your launch option to ~fileopen log not -fileopenlog, one being a tilde and one a dash. Not sure why they didn't just let us copy the launch option I had to look at the screenshot super close haha
