Description:
Adds an interaction to the gramophone player in the Gramophone Cafe that will allow you to select a song from the Album to play and save as the new song that plays whenever you are in the Gramophone Cafe.
A Cassette Player item is given when interacting with the Gramophone Player for the first time.
Both the Gramophone and the Cassette Player will now display your own MP3 files on the music play list. (see Custom Playlist Instructions below)
Gramophone Player Instructions:
- Selecting a song from the list will retain that song as the new default for the Gramophone Cafe (retains this setting between sessions)
- Previewing a song will play that track temporarily while you are in the Cafe, will return to default when the scene changes.
Cassette Player Instructions:
- To get the item, interact with the Gramophone Player open the music selection menu. You'll get the item once you close the menu.
- The Cassette Player is located in the Key Items menu
- When using the Cassette Player, you can preview a song from the list or select the song to make that the new default song that plays in the Overworld, regardless of where you are.
- When using the Cassette Player, you can choose to set the selected song as the Battle Track.
- To change back to the default music from the Region, just select Default from the music list.
- Cannot be used in Battle. Setting battle music should be done outside of battle.
Custom Playlist Instructions:
- Create a folder named
music
in one of the following directories.- C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\CassetteBeasts\music\ on Windows
- ~/.local/share/CassetteBeasts/music/ on Linux.
- Add your
mp3
files to that music folder - Whenever you open the music selection list, in game, you'll see your custom tracks displayed at the bottom of the list.
DLC Support:
The music tracks for the Pier of The Unknown DLC will appear in the track list if you own the DLC. They appear just before any custom tracks.
Selective Muting
By setting the track to Silence
you can mute Cafe/Overworld/Battle music independently.
FAQ
- Can I use other audio formats besides mp3?
- No, at the moment the mod will only accept mp3 files
- What happens if I use the wrong file type for my music?
- The song wont play and you'll see a lot of angry messages about it in your log file. The game itself won't crash.
- What happens if I remove one of my mp3 files from the music folder after saving it as the track to be played?
- The game will default to the vanilla region setting track the next time it tries to load the song.
- Do I need to restart the game every time I want to add another mp3 file to the music folder?
- No, you can add/remove files from the music folder whenever you want. The tracks will be auto populated next time you open that menu.
- Is it safe to uninstall the mod after changing the music so much?
- Removing the mod will just set the music back to its original settings and the Cassette Player item will be safely removed from your inventory.
- How do I set the music back to normal?
- Open the music selection screen and select the Default option at the top. This change the music back to whatever the default for the region is.
- Can I change the battle music with this?
- No, at the moment this only applies to the Overworld and Cafe.
