# Description:
Payday 2's performance isn't solely based on your hardware. A lot of it is limited to the 32bit binary, combined with the ancient engine from which it was built.
This 1GB mod is a gamechanger. No longer will you have to set your textures to anything less than *high*, in game. The goal is to stop access violation crashes. I have hand-picked many repeated textures and reduced the resolution by half, while maintaining quality to the best of my ability. All of the important, unique textures are unaffected. This includes all of the maps in every DLC.
**In other words, download all of the HD mods that you want, but install this mod first!**
* Normals are untouched
* **Every** map is optimized
* Possibly higher FPS

## Instructions:

To install:
1. Download the file
2. **Drag and drop** into *mod_overrides* folder
3. Set textures to *high* in the in-game settings for best results

## Note:
||
* This mod **will** reduce the quality of some textures, but that is by design. The intent of this mod is to reduce the size of less noticeable, repeating textures in order to enhance gameplay. As stated before, this does not affect unique textures (skins, characters, weapons, and much more).
* This mod does not automatically update. Some fixes can be resolved without redownloading. Check the changelog.
* Please let me know of any potential bugs you find.

## Troubleshooting:
||
* If you are getting errors extracting the .RAR file, open it as administrator.
* Some updates remove files from previous updates. Quickfixes will be posted, but if not, please delete the original folder and reinstall.
* If you are still getting access violation errors, try lowering your Adaptive Streaming Chunk Size to 128. Or better yet, here's a [mod](https://pdmods-arc.berigora.net/paydaymods.com/mods/547/adaptivestreamingchunksize.html) that does it automatically.
* If the above doesn't work, please try this [mod](https://pd2mods.z77.fr/clear_texture_cache.html).
* [Verify game cache](https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335). This usually fixes the issue.
* If you are still struggling with crashes, try this [mod](https://modworkshop.net/mod/24710) as a last resort.

||Delete the **shadow_mullplan** folder located at *\Optimized World\units\payday2\props*. These textures are quite small anyway, and therefore don't need any optimization.||

* Fixed shiny floor textures in Harvest & Trustee bank. If you want a quick fix:
